Makeup Monday – Oscar Edition

Collections, Makeup Artist, Naked Advanced Skincare, Naked Cosmetics Pigments, Naked Makeup

Hollywood’s biggest night,  The Oscars!  The stars were out and they were slaying that red carpet.  Unfortunately, Leonardo DiCaprio doesn’t wear Shock Effect so I can’t do a whole post about him. (Congratulations Leo!!!)  So we will talk about the looks we CAN try to recreate.  Good thing for us is that lately, the trend is makeup that is great to wear every day, no matter the occasion.  Here are just some of the lovely ladies of the night.

Let’s start out with Sophie Turner.  She has such a gorgeous complexion and glow to her, and her dress was out of this world.  Her makeup was soft and went perfectly, it seems, with her personality.  For her look, use Twilight 03 on your eyes and Naturally Nude 04 with clear lip base on your lips.

Next we move on to Lady Gaga.  Can we just think back for a moment about the Lady Gaga who used to show up dressed in the most over the top ensembles?   She completely went from the “shock” factor to the “wow” factor.  And it. is. Amazing.  To recreate her look, use Naturally Nude 02 on your eyes.  On your lips, use Blushing Bronze 03 with a little bit of clear lip base.

Lady Gaga

Rachel McAdams matched her makeup to her dress.  To copy her look, use Ebony 03 and an angled liner brush.  Use the brush along the bottom lash line, and then along the top, blend out to create a beautiful emerald smokey eye.

Kerry Washington looked absolutely flawless last night.  She focused on her eyeliner, which you can use Sierra Nevada 06 with an angled liner brush.  Her eye shadow was very soft, and for that you can use Sierra Nevada 02.  She went with a nude lip, so you can use our clear lip base on its own, or with a little Naturally Nude 02.

Saoirse Ronan looked gorgeous!  Her dress was beautiful – it instantly reminded me of a mermaid.  Saoirse went with a smokey eye, and it had more of a matte look.  For this, use our eye primer to make the pigment more matte, along with Debonaire 05 and a little Debonaire 03 under the lower lash line.

Makeup Looks from the Grammy’s

Collections, Naked Cosmetics Pigments, Naked Makeup

The Grammy’s have got to be my favorite awards show of the whole year.  I always look forward to the unexpected musical collaborations and different surprises that pop up.  It’s also the perfect show to break out the edgy makeup.  This year, it seems like the makeup was a little more understated, with the exception of a few.  Either way, you can recreate all of the looks with Naked Cosmetics pigments.  Here are some of the looks from last night.

Selena-Gomez (1)

The smokey eye was an extremely popular look last night.  I loved Selena Gomez’s take on it.  To create her look, start with Sierra Nevada 06 close to the lash line and then blend out with Sierra Nevada 05.   She stuck with a nude lip, and for that you can use Naturally Nude 02 with our clear lip base.

Ciara

Sticking with a more traditional smokey eye was Ciara.  Did she kill it last night or what?  For her look, you can use Debonaire 04 on the inner corner of your eye, Debonaire 05 all over your lid, and blend out with Debonaire 06 in the outer corner.  She also went with a nude lip, so Naturally Nude 02 with clear lip base will work here too.

alessandra-ambrosio (1)

My favorite smokey eye of the night was Alessandra Ambrosio.  She used an emerald color to line her eyes, and it was gorgeous!  To create Alessandra’s look, use Ebony 03 all around your eyes.  For precision, use an angled liner brush.  Use a pencil black eye liner to line your water line for a finished look.  Alessandra wore a pinky-nude lip, and for this you can use Naturally Nude 03 with our clear lip base.

bella-hadid_0

A lot of stars went with a barely-there makeup look.  But as we know, there is still makeup involved in these looks.  Bella Hadid pulled this off flawlessly.  She used the same color on her eyes and lips.  To get her pink-nude lips and eyes, use Naturally Nude 04 on your eyes and mix with our clear lip base on your lips.

lady-gaga (1)

I can’t possibly talk about makeup and the Grammy’s without talking about Lady Gaga.  Her tribute to David Bowie was perfection and her look was amazing.  I can’t promise you can pull off her look, because come on, she’s Lady Gaga, but I can tell you what colors you can use to try.  🙂  On your eyes, you can put Broadway 01 on the inner corner, and then Broadway 05 over the lid.  If you can’t find the gems, you can use some glitter from our Gemstones Collection to complete the look.  For her gorgeous lip color, you can use Blushing Bronze 04 with our clear lip base.

Which look was your favorite?  What was your favorite moment of the night?  I’d love to hear your thoughts!  Sound off in the comments!

Curing the Winter Blues

Collections, Naked Cosmetics Pigments, Naked Makeup

This is the time of year when a lot of people are getting tired of the snow, the cold, and the dreary days.  I feel like sometimes, my wardrobe or my makeup can help improve my mood.  So I have brought you some collections to brighten up your day.  All swatches were applied dry on the left and wet on the right.

First up we have Desert Sunset.  It doesn’t get much hotter than the desert.  These colors are warm and sunny.  There is a beautiful color range, and the colors look great on any skin tone.  This collection would be great as eye shadow, mixed with some of our Advanced Skin Cream as a bronzer or blush, or mixed with our clear lip base to make a beautiful lip gloss.

Desert Sunset

Next we have Tropical Indulgence.  This collection is so fun!  Imagine you’re sipping on a fruity cocktail on the beach while you give yourself a colorful manicure.  Or you can use TI-01 or TI-02 with our clear lip base for a bright, beautiful lip gloss.

Tropical Indulgence

Of course, we do have those people out there who enjoy the snow.  (They do exist, I’ve met them!)  So I didn’t leave you out.  For you, we have the Twilight collection.  All the colors in this collection have a gorgeous silver base, perfect to reflect the snow.  These colors make beautiful eye shadows – dry, wet, or with our eye shadow primer for more of a matte look.

Makeup Monday – Golden Globes Edition

Makeup Artist, Naked Cosmetics Pigments, Naked Makeup

The Golden Globes:  movies and TV together.  I love the combination. It looks like such a fun night.  It’s such a big mixture of all my favorite stars, I couldn’t help being glued to the red carpet coverage for hours.  There were so many great looks on the red carpet last night, it was hard to choose which looks to showcase today.  But here you have it, some of the best makeup looks from the Golden Globes 2016.

Olivia Wilde brings out her dress color in her eye make up.  You can copy this look using UR-05 on your eyes.  Make sure to define the shape with black eyeliner on the top and bottom lash line.  Then you can use NN-02 with our clear lip base for a great nude lip!

Gina Rodriguez had a beautiful blue gown, and used a little sapphire blue liner to bring out the color of her dress.  You can use EB-02, smudged with a thick black eye liner to copy her look.  Then sweep JV-03 over your lids and inner corner of your eye.   Use lots of our clear lip base with a little bit of pigment BB-03 for a sweet look.

Jada Pinkett Smith looked gorgeous in green.  You can mimic her look by using MN-04 on your lids with black eye liner and mascara.  Use DE-04 on your lips for a beautiful look.

Bryce Dallace Howard played up her features flawlessly with a natural look.  She used colors to complement her skin tone and hair color, and she looked stunning.  To get Bryce’s look, use SN-03 close to your lash line and blend out with SN-02.  You can use BB-03 as both your blush and your lip color.  Perfection!

Zendaya played up her natural features with a pop of soft color on her eyes.  Use NN-05 and lots of mascara or false eyelashes to copy her look.  Use NN-03 with our clear lip base for a pinky-nude lip.

Kirsten Dunst had a gorgeous smokey eye look going on.  To create this look, use DB-05 blended with DB-06 and lots of mascara.  For your lips, use MN-03.

Rosie Huntington-Wheatly had the perfect bronzey-glow going on.  To copy her look, use MN-02 on your eyes.  On your lips, use BB-04.  For a glow, you can use PC-01 as a highlighter with a flat bronzer (or your favorite blending brush), put in your basic highlighting areas, and blend.  Always make sure your face is moisturized before highlighting for best results!

If you are like me and millions of other people, you already have your tickets to see The Force Awakens in a couple weeks.  I have to admit, I am pretty excited about it.  A lot of people are also having fun and dressing up as their favorite character.  If that’s what you’re doing, I have the perfect makeup inspiration for you.  With Naked Cosmetics pigments, we have a color for just about every character.  I have rounded up a few of my favorites today.

R2-D2 is everyone’s favorite little robot.  He is adventurous and spunky, and always seems to save the day right when you need him.  To channel your inner R2-D2, you can use our Heavy Metal collection in colors HE-01 and HE-06 (Shown wet and dry).  Beep-Boop-Beep!

R2D25

Boba Fett is a pretty sweet bad guy.  Some say he personifies “danger and mystery”.  Nothing wrong with that!  To bring out your inner Boba Fett, use Mother Nature collection in colors MN-03 and MN-04.

On to the best Wookiee out of Kashyyyk, Chewbacca!  Han Solo’s side kick is a great choice for a fun cosplay idea.  For a Chewbacca inspired look, use Java collection in colors JV-04 and JV-06 (Shown wet and dry).

Chewbacca5

And last but certainly not least, my personal favorite:  Darth Vader.  Sweet costume, awesome song, great story; what’s not to love?  The makeup look for him is fun too!  Use our Ebony collection in EB-01 and EB-06 (Shown wet and dry), then add Cosmetic Glitter-06 (Shown wet).  Now enjoy the dark side!

Makeup Monday – AMA Edition

Makeup Artist, Naked Cosmetics Pigments, Naked Makeup

Ah the American Music Awards.  I love music; I love award shows, what could be better?  Okay, okay, obviously the Grammy’s, but I have to take what I can get!  The stars were still out, showing off their awesome dresses, hair and of course, MAKEUP!  So here we are with another run down of how you can recreate some gorgeous looks with Naked Cosmetics pure pigments.

First, we have Selena Gomez.  I love that she wasn’t afraid to add some color to her eyes.  You can use Urban Rustic 04 to create her look.  It is a gorgeous pigment, and will glam you up in no time.

Ciara went with a really pretty smoky eye.  She started with a lighter color on the inner corner, which you can use Debonaire 03, and then blend out into Debonaire 05 to get this gorgeous look.

I loved the questions swirling around Gigi Hadid’s hairdo – Did she cut it?  Did she trick everyone?  Either way, there is no question about it, she looked stunning.  She kept her makeup super simple, and easy to recreate.  Use Painted Canyon 01 on the inner corner to give you that glowing look, and Naturally Nude 01 on your lids.  You can also use our lip base and Naturally Nude 02 to create her lip color, and you have her whole look.  Now whether to cut your hair or pin it, you’ll have to ask her hairstylist.  🙂

Demi Lovato looked so glamorous.  I loved her hair, and her makeup was perfection.  She also had a smoky eye, but hers was a bit more matte.  To recreate her look, use Debonaire 01 and Sierra Nevada 06, and blend, baby, blend!  A ton of mascara should finish it off nicely.  Use your favorite deep red lip color and you’ll be confident in no time.

Congrats to our Favorite Female Country Artist Carrie Underwood!  She was looking fabulous as always!  Carrie always has just the right amount of glam.  Her eyes were played up just enough, with a matte nude lip.  To mimic her look, use Sierra Nevada 02 on your eyes with lots of mascara.  Pair with your favorite matte nude lipstick and you’re good to go.
