What is strobing? It’s certainly having its moment in the spotlight so what exactly is it and how do you do it?
Lately the trends rocking the runways, the red carpets and even the beaches has been all about the bold colors! We love these looks and I don’t think the bold hues are going anywhere soon. But sometimes an occasion (or a rough morning) calls for something more natural…more nude!
There are trends and fads that we love and lose but there are also the staples, the go-to’s that we can always count on to make ourselves look our very best. From our pro-team here are our 5 Favorite Makeup Looks.
- Matte Makeup – this flawless, gorgeous look has always been around. Allowing your natural features to flourish and look fresh all day long. Any of our Java or Naturally Nude pigments will enhance and beautify your skin.
3. The Smoky Eye – lay on some heat this date night with the perfect smokey eye. Using DB-05 across the lids and SN-06 in the crease and on the water line, you can seriously add some sizzle to your game.
4. Cat-Eye – what is considered Retro has actually always been a fashion hit. There are lots of ways to personalize the cat eye technique and it couldn’t be simpler with a small angled makeup brush and DB-06 for a hint of mesmerizing sparkle.

The Grammy’s have got to be my favorite awards show of the whole year. I always look forward to the unexpected musical collaborations and different surprises that pop up. It’s also the perfect show to break out the edgy makeup. This year, it seems like the makeup was a little more understated, with the exception of a few. Either way, you can recreate all of the looks with Naked Cosmetics pigments. Here are some of the looks from last night.
The smokey eye was an extremely popular look last night. I loved Selena Gomez’s take on it. To create her look, start with Sierra Nevada 06 close to the lash line and then blend out with Sierra Nevada 05. She stuck with a nude lip, and for that you can use Naturally Nude 02 with our clear lip base.
Sticking with a more traditional smokey eye was Ciara. Did she kill it last night or what? For her look, you can use Debonaire 04 on the inner corner of your eye, Debonaire 05 all over your lid, and blend out with Debonaire 06 in the outer corner. She also went with a nude lip, so Naturally Nude 02 with clear lip base will work here too.
My favorite smokey eye of the night was Alessandra Ambrosio. She used an emerald color to line her eyes, and it was gorgeous! To create Alessandra’s look, use Ebony 03 all around your eyes. For precision, use an angled liner brush. Use a pencil black eye liner to line your water line for a finished look. Alessandra wore a pinky-nude lip, and for this you can use Naturally Nude 03 with our clear lip base.
A lot of stars went with a barely-there makeup look. But as we know, there is still makeup involved in these looks. Bella Hadid pulled this off flawlessly. She used the same color on her eyes and lips. To get her pink-nude lips and eyes, use Naturally Nude 04 on your eyes and mix with our clear lip base on your lips.
I can’t possibly talk about makeup and the Grammy’s without talking about Lady Gaga. Her tribute to David Bowie was perfection and her look was amazing. I can’t promise you can pull off her look, because come on, she’s Lady Gaga, but I can tell you what colors you can use to try. 🙂 On your eyes, you can put Broadway 01 on the inner corner, and then Broadway 05 over the lid. If you can’t find the gems, you can use some glitter from our Gemstones Collection to complete the look. For her gorgeous lip color, you can use Blushing Bronze 04 with our clear lip base.
Which look was your favorite? What was your favorite moment of the night? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Sound off in the comments!
