Summer is officially here! For many of us that means it’s finally time for a vacation! So when it comes to your makeup, the question is what do I bring and what do I leave behind? Here are some tips and a look inside our makeup bag.

Use Naked Cosmetics and go Nude

Naked Cosmetics Pigments, Naked Makeup

Lately the trends rocking the runways, the red carpets and even the beaches has been all about the bold colors!  We love these looks and I don’t think the bold hues are going anywhere soon.  But sometimes an occasion (or a rough morning) calls for something more natural…more nude!

Makeup Monday – Oscar Edition

Hollywood’s biggest night,  The Oscars!  The stars were out and they were slaying that red carpet.  Unfortunately, Leonardo DiCaprio doesn’t wear Shock Effect so I can’t do a whole post about him. (Congratulations Leo!!!)  So we will talk about the looks we CAN try to recreate.  Good thing for us is that lately, the trend is makeup that is great to wear every day, no matter the occasion.  Here are just some of the lovely ladies of the night.

Let’s start out with Sophie Turner.  She has such a gorgeous complexion and glow to her, and her dress was out of this world.  Her makeup was soft and went perfectly, it seems, with her personality.  For her look, use Twilight 03 on your eyes and Naturally Nude 04 with clear lip base on your lips.

Next we move on to Lady Gaga.  Can we just think back for a moment about the Lady Gaga who used to show up dressed in the most over the top ensembles?   She completely went from the “shock” factor to the “wow” factor.  And it. is. Amazing.  To recreate her look, use Naturally Nude 02 on your eyes.  On your lips, use Blushing Bronze 03 with a little bit of clear lip base.

Rachel McAdams matched her makeup to her dress.  To copy her look, use Ebony 03 and an angled liner brush.  Use the brush along the bottom lash line, and then along the top, blend out to create a beautiful emerald smokey eye.

Kerry Washington looked absolutely flawless last night.  She focused on her eyeliner, which you can use Sierra Nevada 06 with an angled liner brush.  Her eye shadow was very soft, and for that you can use Sierra Nevada 02.  She went with a nude lip, so you can use our clear lip base on its own, or with a little Naturally Nude 02.

Saoirse Ronan looked gorgeous!  Her dress was beautiful – it instantly reminded me of a mermaid.  Saoirse went with a smokey eye, and it had more of a matte look.  For this, use our eye primer to make the pigment more matte, along with Debonaire 05 and a little Debonaire 03 under the lower lash line.

Makeup Looks from the Grammy’s

Collections, Naked Cosmetics Pigments, Naked Makeup

The Grammy’s have got to be my favorite awards show of the whole year.  I always look forward to the unexpected musical collaborations and different surprises that pop up.  It’s also the perfect show to break out the edgy makeup.  This year, it seems like the makeup was a little more understated, with the exception of a few.  Either way, you can recreate all of the looks with Naked Cosmetics pigments.  Here are some of the looks from last night.

Selena-Gomez (1)

The smokey eye was an extremely popular look last night.  I loved Selena Gomez’s take on it.  To create her look, start with Sierra Nevada 06 close to the lash line and then blend out with Sierra Nevada 05.   She stuck with a nude lip, and for that you can use Naturally Nude 02 with our clear lip base.

Ciara

Sticking with a more traditional smokey eye was Ciara.  Did she kill it last night or what?  For her look, you can use Debonaire 04 on the inner corner of your eye, Debonaire 05 all over your lid, and blend out with Debonaire 06 in the outer corner.  She also went with a nude lip, so Naturally Nude 02 with clear lip base will work here too.

alessandra-ambrosio (1)

My favorite smokey eye of the night was Alessandra Ambrosio.  She used an emerald color to line her eyes, and it was gorgeous!  To create Alessandra’s look, use Ebony 03 all around your eyes.  For precision, use an angled liner brush.  Use a pencil black eye liner to line your water line for a finished look.  Alessandra wore a pinky-nude lip, and for this you can use Naturally Nude 03 with our clear lip base.

A lot of stars went with a barely-there makeup look.  But as we know, there is still makeup involved in these looks.  Bella Hadid pulled this off flawlessly.  She used the same color on her eyes and lips.  To get her pink-nude lips and eyes, use Naturally Nude 04 on your eyes and mix with our clear lip base on your lips.

lady-gaga (1)

I can’t possibly talk about makeup and the Grammy’s without talking about Lady Gaga.  Her tribute to David Bowie was perfection and her look was amazing.  I can’t promise you can pull off her look, because come on, she’s Lady Gaga, but I can tell you what colors you can use to try.  🙂  On your eyes, you can put Broadway 01 on the inner corner, and then Broadway 05 over the lid.  If you can’t find the gems, you can use some glitter from our Gemstones Collection to complete the look.  For her gorgeous lip color, you can use Blushing Bronze 04 with our clear lip base.

Which look was your favorite?  What was your favorite moment of the night?  I’d love to hear your thoughts!  Sound off in the comments!
